The Anamnesis short film premiered in Tehran, Iran December 2019 during our week-long show in beautiful nopa House, a space dedicated to modern and Danish design. Viewers journied through three women in different villages across the Iranian plateau – home to civilization since 4000 B.C. In each village, they will visit the modest home of weavers where these magnificent pieces are made, experience how these women live, sing their songs, spin their yarn and warp their looms.

Audiences will join these women to weave a piece that manifests a personal memory of great significance – a story they wish to share with the world.

The Persian rug may not be long for this world. Through this unique project, Anamnesis connects the collective memory of these timeless works to the stories and creative power of the women behind them, whose contributions have long been overlooked—a key reason for the tradition’s ongoing decline.
