Telling stories in a forgotten way
Anamnesis is a collaboration with four Iranian women that presents a series of rugs shaped by their personal stories, told through the art of weaving and the power of memory. The project reflects on a tradition that is slowly disappearing in Iran, and seeks to honor the weavers as creators rather than manual laborers. By reclaiming the symbolic language of motifs and the heritage of storytelling, it highlights a practice that remains central to nomadic and village culture.
Culmination
The show is accompanied by a short film chronicling the journey of the project and a limited edition book showcasing each weaver, their final piece and the memory that inspired it. The project culminated with an exhibition in the winter of 2019 in Tehran, Iran and made its US debut during New York Textile Month in 2020.
